MSF Scientific Days Latin America 2025: Abstract guidelines

MSF Scientific Days International Organizing Committee
Abstract

MSF Scientific Days Latin America 2025 invites researchers, NGOs and public health professionals, policymakers, advocates, and frontline humanitarian workers to submit abstracts that explore innovative, evidence-based, and rights-centered approaches to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in humanitarian settings.

Selected abstracts will have the opportunity to be presented at MSF Scientific Days Latin America 2025, taking place in Mexico in September, with both in-person and online audiences.

Theme: Breaking Barriers: Ensuring Sexual and Reproductive Health for All in Humanitarian Crises

We welcome abstracts that align with the following key areas:

  • Overcoming Barriers to Safe Abortion Care – Strategies to expand access despite legal, social, and operational challenges.
  • Contraceptive Equity: Ensuring Choice and Access for All – Addressing availability, affordability, and structural barriers to contraception.
  • SRHR for Adolescents and Young People in Crisis Settings – Ensuring youth-friendly services and education in humanitarian contexts.
  • LGBTQI+ Inclusion in SRHR: From Marginalization to Rights-Based Care – Breaking down stigma and ensuring tailored, inclusive services.
  • Comprehensive Maternal Health in Humanitarian Settings – Integrating maternal care with broader health services to improve outcomes for mothers and newborns.
  • Sexual Violence: Addressing the Needs of Survivors– Strengthening response mechanisms, protection strategies, and access to holistic care for those at the highest risk.
  • Innovative SRH Solutions in Humanitarian Contexts – Creative approaches to service delivery in conflict zones, migration settings, and remote areas.

MSF project teams work to improve the quality of care every day. More and more, MSF staff use evidence-based quality improvement (QI) methods to measure care quality, identify areas for improvement and root causes for deficiencies, and improve care systematically. For this year´s MSF Scientific Days LatAm edition, submissions with a quality improvement approach will be valued.

Submission Details:

We will welcome abstracts in the following modalities: research papers (including quality improvement case studies), innovation and storytelling.

Deadline: May 15th, 2025 at 23:59 GMT
